Over 200 Juvenile Books Added!

The Alba Library is proud to announce that we have added over 200 new juvenile nonfiction books to our amazing children's section. This purchase was funded by Alba Friends of the Library through their fundraising activities. The books cover a wide spectrum of topics including dinosaurs, Texas, sports, crafts, "I Spy" look and find books, fairy tales, life sciences, etc. Come take a look and check out some of our amazing new books.

Children's Storytime - Every Tuesday 10:00 a.m.

Enjoy books brought to life by talented readers, including our very own Vicki Fisher. Miss Vicki is a former children's librarian who uses hand-puppets, stuffed animals, music, and active participation to entertain and delight kids of all ages.

Thursday Game Day - Cards, Dominoes, Word Games, etc.

Games and game pieces are provided by the library. Coffee and cookies, too! Come in and join the fun!

Alba Wild Hog and Brisket Cookoff

April 25-26 Alba Wild Hog Cookoff (proceeds go to library and fire department). Street dance Friday night. Cook-off, lunch, and raffle and cook-off prizes Saturday morning and afternoon. Click here for more details.

Visit by Roy Rogers' and Dale Evans' Daughter

Cheryl Rogers-Barnes will be visiting the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman on Tuesday, May 13 from noon until 3p.m. Cheryl is the adopted daughter of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. She will present a one-hour program, sponsored by the Quitman Public Library, about her life that includes a short film and a Q & A session. She is the author of two books: Cowboy Princess and The All-American Cowboy Grill. Cheryl and her husband, Larry Barnett, are co-founders of Happy Trails Forever: Preserving the Legacy of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.

Writer of Fishing/Sporting Articles & Books at Library

Thursday, May 15, 7:00 p.m. Alba Friends of the Library presents writer Reavis Wortham, author of books and sporting/fishing articles, for speaking and signing books at library. Refreshments provided.

Let's Polka!

Tuesday, June 10. 1:00 p.m. Mike of Pint Size Polkas will be at the Community Center for music, dance, stories, and refreshments, sponsored by the library. All ages welcome to come and learn to polka!
